Welcome to your restructured CTF Writeups directory! This guide will help you understand the new structure and how to seamlessly create new writeups using your templates while keeping your Obsidian graph view beautifully connected.
Your vault is now structured to keep everything organized by category:

Each category inside 02_Completed_CTFs/ contains an "Index Note" (e.g., Web Exploitation.md). These act as the central hub for that specific category.
Previously, your templates used a raw string for the category (e.g., category: "Web"). Obsidian doesn't automatically link this to a folder.
I've updated your templates so the frontmatter now uses an Obsidian wikilink. For example:
category: "[[Web Exploitation]]"Why this is awesome:
- Graph View: Every time you use a template, the new writeup will automatically point to the
Web Exploitationindex note. This connects all your notes into clusters in your Graph View. - Dataview: The body of your templates uses
=this.category. Because the category is now a link, Dataview will render it as a clickable link in reading mode.
- Create a Note: Create a new
.mdfile inside the appropriate category folder (e.g.,02_Completed_CTFs/Web Exploitation/). - Apply Template: Insert the corresponding template (e.g., the
Web Exploitation.mdtemplate). - Fill the Frontmatter:
- Fill in the
title,ctf,points,difficulty, etc. - Leave the
categoryas it is (it's already linked properly!).
- Fill in the
- Write! Fill out the Recon, Code Review, and Exploitation sections.
